Blue and Gold Banquet

Andrew got his Wolf Badge this weekend at the Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet.  Had I know he had the envelope backwards, I would have said something.

And they're off!

Andrew thinks he's a Baylor fan so this year he painted his car green and gold with dragon tattoos.  Made sense to me.

Second place!

Pinewood tension

Moments before the start of the race and the drama is palpable. The boys are on edge, barely waiting to see who will be fastest. Well, most of the boys are ...

Brave Little Cub Scout

Andrew hiking around the legendary "Goatman" cave.  Every Scout at Camp Tahuaya knows about Goatman; the ancient creature created by the trampling of a mid-19th century herder by a pack of supernatural goats.  He was disturbed from his lair by a settler years later and has roamed the camp ever since, seeking revenge with a particular affinity and taste for Tiger Cubs.

I've been behind...

Here are some of the images I just pulled off of Andrew's camera.  They stretch back a couple months and include the Cub Scout Adventure Day, hiking at Enchanted Rock, eating at D's Mediterranean Delight, and naptime on the swingset.

Paratrooper Andrew

A couple weeks ago, Andrew's Cub Scout den took a tour of a local military contractor, L3. For most of the tour, photos were strictly forbidden, the boys got to try out the parachute training system and we got to take pictures of them in the get-up. I'm not sure who the tour excited more, the boys or the dads.

Cub Scout trip to the zoo

And it seems to have totally baffled Andrew.

It's Pinewood Derby time

So, his car didn't to terribly well, but I think he had fun building it.  Sanding is only fun for so long, though.

Cub-O

A couple weeks ago Andrew and I went to Cub-O at the Sid Richardson Scout Ranch.  We spent the day learning orienteering with his den.  I explained it to Andrew like geocaching without a GPS.  The ranch had set several dozen flags out and our job was to find as many as we could within 2 hours.  Our den did pretty well, finding 9 and hiking almost 2 hours.

Here's an overview of our trek.
