Andrew's reward

A couple weeks ago, we started a chore routine with Andrew. Excepting for a couple missteps, it has been a grand success. We promised him an allowance, which he put toward the purchase of a new toy airplane. We also generated a grid of the week's chores and let him put a sticker each time he completed one. I think that was more motivating than the airplane.

Here are some photos of his new toy and an audio clip of him telling me a story about this very plane and a race it was in.

Sweeping is hard work

I'm sure we broke some form of child labor laws, but our patio is awfully clean now (not really).

He loves feeding his fish

We have an after-dinner ritual: first he feeds Blue, his betta; then he feeds the larger tank of fish; then he feeds Cooper. Unfortunately, he sometimes bores of the whole process early on.

His office-bed

We finally started painting Andrew's new bedroom (translation: I've been evicted from my office). It desperately needs to be painted. We enlisted the help of a professional painter to do the job; I'm not sure if he has any experience in painting walls, but he seems to be an expert on many different media, including paper, sandpaper, and bathtubs. (Oh yeah, he still calls it his "office-bed").

He loves to help sweep and clean up. How long can we keep this up?
