More Christmas

Nothing brings the world together like silly hats.

That one is next!Yes, the present was, in fact, resting on the dog's back.

Andrew's pics!

The much vaunted Big-Boy Room (or, Little Boy, Big Bed Redux)

We finally got him into his big-boy room about a week ago. He loves it! Still calls it his "big-boy room." He seems to have completely forgotten about his other bedroom.

Edit (12/28):
I think this retouch shows the colors of his bedroom a little better:

Christmas Tree shopping

Unfortunately, it was a sad, sad tree farm. Our normal tree farm has been closed now for 2 years. They say it will be open again next year, but last Christmas we ended up with a Lowe's tree and this year we had to get a pre-cut tree from this farm. I was disappointing that I was able to see over the top of the whole farm -- me, at 5'7", not only could see over the top of the trees, but I could see the entire 1/2 acre farm from one spot. Bummer.

Oh yeah, he picked out the outfit again; including the hat/hood combo.

Might have been a small tree farm, but it certainly had big tractor wheels.

The return trip

These pictures are really fuzzy because Andrew was so wound up on the way home, he wouldn't sit still. As a matter of fact, he was so excited on the trip from Dallas to Waco, he didn't even realize he had flown 100 miles.

I wasn't able to get 3 seats together on that leg of the trip, so Liz sat in the back with Andrew while I sat elsewhere. Liz said that he spent the whole trip vibrating in his seat: wanting to play with one toy after another and narrating his whole life story. When we the wheels touched-down in Waco, he looked up at her and asked, "Are we flying now?" She had to break it to him that he had missed the flight.

This is how we had to finally restrain him!

Strange little boy

One of his favorite things to do in an open field is to run as fast as he can, slow down, "trip," and fall over; all intentionally. He's an odd one.

Just in case you were wondering: not an easy game to track with a camera.

How Andrew sees the world

Here are the pictures that Andrew took later in the day. Interesting perspective, eh. Think I could make millions of dollars with his art like they do with elephant paintings?

He makes me so proud

Grammy and Grampy got Andrew a camera this year for Christmas. They gave it to him while we were visiting and we decided to take it to Rady Park in Warrenton for the afternoon. Actually, we had it in the car and when Grampy started taking picture we thought Andrew would like to as well.

It was adorable how he imitated all the gyrations Grampy went through to get a shot; from kneeling on the ground, to getting in close, to reviewing the pictures on the camera afterward.

Unfortunately, the camera didn't work quite right and we lost all the pictures he took that day. I did manage to grab a few that he had taken later on in the day. I'll post those tomorrow.

Portraits at Chattham Manor

As part of our annual trek home, we make sure to go to Chatham Manor in Fredericksburg. Andrew didn't have too much fun because I told him we were going to a park and he envisioned slides, swings, and spinners. Knowing that there was a playground at the bottom of the hill, next to the river, I asked him to indulge me for a little bit and then we'd go play. It had been a couple years since we'd been to Fredericksburg and we soon found out that the playground was no longer there. Luckily we found a walking/running trail that had a few swings nearby and that managed to salvage the trip.

He started doing this while I was taking pictures and I specifically asked him to stop. I like how he listens to me.
