Happy birthday, Andrew!

My little boy will turn 5 this afternoon at 4:30. He promised me he'd never grow up!

There are some of you who know about our trials a couple years ago taking Andrew up to Fort Worth to the children's hospital. The doctors were concerned about his growth rate. His gastroenterologist wanted to put a "G button" in his stomach so we could drip Pediasure into him all night long and get more calories into his diet. That's the point at which we decided to end the whole process. There was/is nothing wrong with him other than being on the smaller side for his age. He's still just hanging on to the bottom of the growth chart, but clawing his way back up.

Some of you may also have heard how much our kids eat for breakfast. Well, Liz just found out that Andrew eats even more than we knew.

Every day that the boys go to school Liz feeds them a full, normal breakfast. They'll have waffles or pancakes or cereal with yogurt and fruit before they leave. Andrew has asked Liz to make sure they get to school in time for him to eat breakfast there. I don't know why, but he loves eating breakfast at the school.

For his birthday, Liz surprised him and stayed for breakfast at school. They joke about it all the time and today she ate there with him. He ate his two french toast sticks and Liz asked him if he was finished. He said he was going to get some more. Liz asked him how many times he gets more. "Uh, usually two or three times," he said. She looked at the teacher for affirmation. "Yeah, he usually gets three helpings."

Holy cow! That means yesterday Andrew ate a waffle at home as well as three helpings of breakfast at school. No wonder dinners are pointless at our house.
